Wave Forms
Wave Forms
This series of work seeks to embody and distil a sense of place in the medium of forged metal. It is a reaction to an amalgamation of experiences, the sum total of a childhood spent on beaches and in the sea. The crashing, tumbling turmoil of being thrown about by the waves, the swirling vortices you are able to see only from beneath the surface, the sea spray whipping around your face as you gaze out over the bay.Â
These pieces intentionally splinter and fray bars of steel, creating a heterogenous amalgamation, bursting with material agency. The final assemblage is not the result of any fixed plan, but rather a journey with the material.
